| Chris Passes PE Exam!!!
|
|
Chris Langley has passed his PE Exam!!!
Chris Langley took on the challenge of taking the structural exam and will receive his license and seal by the end of January. Our longest standing employee, Chris came to our office as a walk-in looking for part time work while attending Ocean Engineering Graduate School way back in 2001. He quickly took to the structural work we had, designing aluminum enclosures and various projects before taking the plunge into product submittals. From there he grew to a senior position supervising many key office departments.
Chris will be utilizing his engineering licensure to expand the horizons of the office and realize the dreams and goals we had when we first met. We look forward to his continued advancement here at Engineering Express, and thank him for his continued interest and support in the firm. His efforts and achievements are proud moments for owner Frank Bennardo, who believes this is just the beginning of a long, successful career for Chris with us.

| EX Pres. To Be Pres of Broward FES
|

Frank L. Bennardo, P.E. will be inagurates as the President of the Broward chapter of the Florida Engineering Society for the 2008-2009 year on June 25th. Everyone from the office is invited and welcome to attend the inaguration, which will be at the La Playa restaurant next to Shooters in Ft. Lauderdale. Food and non-alchoholic drinks will be served and admission for any office employee will be paid by the office.

| 2007 Florida Building Code Available

The final draft of the 2007 Florida Building Code is available on the web site at the following link for review. Thank you for your participation in the code development process.

Remember, all master plan sheets, product approvals, and new plans sealed after December 1 (the effective date of the new code) will need to be certified for the 2007 building code. Schedule your changes with the office early to avoid the last minute rush and possible extra fees!

We have grown our storefront and structural inspection departments to make use of a full time inspection vehicle! We can now more easily perform inspections for our clients and monitor jobs in progress to better assist our clients.

| Cory Finishes New Bucket Calculator
|

Cory has finished and posted a new wood connection calculator. This calculator checks the connection strength of thrubolts or lag bolts into wood through a steel bucket. it is most useful for roof truss and rafter uplift connection capacity scenarios.
Please check it out using the link below. It can also be found in tools under 'wood'. Report any bugs or suggestions of improvement to the management. Hope you find it useful!

IT'S HERE!!
The new coffee system is in place and ready to go. It is receiving great reviews from clients and staff.
You'll notice the snack machine has a few rows of the coffee packs already. they're $0.50 which is our cost for them. I will have free ones set aside for clients that want a cup.

| EX WiKi Taking Over
|
|
Keeping on the cutting edge of technology, Engineering Express has ventured to be one of the first to fully host their own WiKi. What is a WiKi you ask? If you don't already know, you will soon. it's like an encyclopedia of everything that is editable by all our staff. It has been popularized by the incredible resource site www.wikipedia.org
The Wiki will be taking over the information portion of the forums, and the forums will evolve to a discussion group among clients and the office. The difference between a WiKi and a forum is forums are post-and-reply, which leaves a long thread to sift through for your answer, which has kept the current EX forums limited. All the latest content and detailed information will appear on a single, searchable WiKi page viewable by people with appropriate permissions to do so.
The EX WiKi contains information about a host of topics such as building code topics, general engineering principles, as well as EXOS operations information, and private office topics.
